Women's orthopedic shoes for bunions, hammertoes and mildly swollen feet
The Pedors Mary Jane Beige (501) is designed for women whose bunions, hammertoes, corns or mild foot swelling make a conventional shoe difficult to fit. Its stretch forefoot accommodates sensitive areas, the adjustable strap adapts to changes in foot volume, and the removable insole allows fitting with a suitable custom orthotic. For women living with diabetes or arthritis, these features address practical footwear needs while retaining a Mary Jane opening.
How the design accommodates your feet
- Stretch forefoot offers accommodation around bunions, corns and hammertoes.
- Adjustable touch-closure strap makes the fit easy to change as foot volume changes.
- Removable insole provides room to assess compatibility with a custom orthotic.
- Mary Jane opening offers a less enclosed feel across the top of the foot.
- Available in Medium (B/C), Wide (D/E) and X-Wide (2E).
Choosing your size and width
Important: this style runs large. Pedors currently describes the fit as approximately half a size to one full size large. Check measurements and the Mary Jane fit guidance before choosing a smaller size, especially when using orthotics. Women's sizes 5–12 are listed, including half sizes; select the offered size/width combination.
Accommodation for sensitive feet, arthritis and mild edema
- Bunions and hammertoes: the stretch forefoot gives around toe and joint prominences.
- Corns and sensitive forefeet: flexible material accommodates areas that need a less restrictive fit.
- Mildly swollen feet and edema: the strap can be readjusted as the amount of room needed changes.
- Arthritis and diabetes-related fit requirements: adjustable fastening and a removable insole support individual fitting, including assessment with prescribed orthotics.
This style is intended for mild swelling within its available widths. For substantial swelling, lymphedema or bulky dressings, compare the MAX range.
Orthotics and fitting
The insole is removable. Check that your orthotic leaves enough space over the toes and instep and that the strap closes comfortably; fit depends on the orthotic's shape and thickness.
Care
Follow the care label supplied with the shoes and any separate instructions supplied with your orthotics.
Should I order my usual shoe size?
Do not assume your usual size will fit this model. Its generous sizing is an important exception within the Pedors range.
